The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has commenced training of 150 selected youths from communities as anti-trafficking vanguards to reduce the increasing rate of trafficking of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Borno State to major cities across the country.

Speaking during the induction of the youths in Maiduguri, the Zonal Commander of NAPTIP Maiduguri Office, Mansur Ahmed expressed concerns over the increasing rate of trafficking of IDPs in Borno, adding that the youths are the primary target of human traffickers, hence the need to enlighten them on the dangers of trafficking.

Represented by NAPTIP Chief Intelligence Officer Abubakar Tabra, the Commander said that the participants would be exposed  to ills of human trafficking as well as religious perspective of the menace and how best to handle the situation when they fall victim.

Borno State Commissioner of Sports and Youth Empowerment, Saina Buba, assured NAPTIP of the government commitment to collaborate with the agency to tackled human trafficking in the state.
