The Airforce technocrat organised the one-day five-star tourney that  involved the 150 golfers from mainly seven golf courses in the Kaduna axis, including Zaria, Kano and Jos. The event, teed off by the celebrant himself,  took place at the lush Wuyep Lakeside Golf course situated inside the vast Kaduna Airforce Base.
AVM Adokwu had been contemplating hosting a tourney to celebrate his one year in the game and was thinking of taking the tourney to his home town Otukpo where the much talked about St. Marks course, Akpegede, would have played a great host. Adokwu indeed wanted his tourney at Otukpo to honor the Senate President, David Mark who did so much to propel him into the game by forcing a golf set on him at the time the AVM was contemplating if he indeed wanted to play the game.
“It’s interesting whenever you add another year. But for me the whole thing will be more fulfilling since I have the game of golf to fall back to. I am just over a year in the game and it’s like I have been playing for a decade. Now that I am a year older, my thinking will be straighter. This is where golf will come in. Through golf you can read people’s mind. Golf will show you who is a cheat or a fellow who can handle adversity. The game reads you out completely.”
The Adokwu birthday tourney featured three prizes for male and ladies in each of the four categories.
