The nongovernment group, Oando Foundation has distributed education starter kits to 1,508 Internally displaced Children  in Bauchi and Adamawa states.

The distribution was carried out in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Education Crisis Response (ECR) project.

Head of Oando foundation, Adekanla Adegoke disclosed this in Bauchi while receiving an award given to the foundation by the Bauchi State government in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

She said that the foundation has planned to mainstream 60,000 out of school children across the country into formal education system and improve learning outcomes.

She noted that the foundation had  partnered with the ECR to mainstream the internally displaced children from its non-formal learning centres to adopted public primary schools in the two states.

In his address, governor Mohammed Abubakar said that he inherited an almost collapsed education system in 2015.

He said that his government had since the time given priority to basic education in the state Adding that it was incumbent on his administration  to improve public education as a deliberate policy.
