No fewer than 155 local governments’ cash transfer facilitators in Kano state were trained on savings and group mobilsation.

The 3-day training was conducted by the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) in collaboration with State Cash Transfer Unit. The facilitators will train beneficiaries of national cash transfer programme.

The Chief Trainer of the workshop, Fxentirimam Zara Ibrahim Jatau, from NCTO Abuja, said it would be difficult for individuals to save from the little gians that come from their investments, but they could achieve that through cooperative thrift and credit groups.

“So, we are training our LGA cash transfer facilitators to train the beneficiaries on the formation and management of such groups, through which they could be able to save for expansion of their businesses,” she stated.

On her part, the Head, State Cash Transfer Unit, Hajiya Aisha Sani Gezawa, said a total of N864,610,000 was disbursed to 19,088 beneficiaries from 15 local government areas of Kano state in the last one year, hence the need to train them on financial management.

“N864, 610,000 was disbursed to 19,088 beneficiaries from 15 local government areas in five payment cycles. And it is pleasing to note that we have evaluated the recipients and vast majority of them have utilized their money very well,” she said.

Earlier, the Kano State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hajiya Aisha Yusuf Jafar, urged the participants to pay attention to the training so that they could pass the knowledge effectively to the beneficiaries.

She called on those that are yet to benefit from the programme across the state to exercise patience as theirs was around the corner.
