A women-led NGO, the Gender Strategy Advancements International (GSAI), on Thursday, launched the “ID (Inclusive Drive)” initiative.

The initiative unveiled in Abuja was supported by Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Wole Soyinka Investigative Journalist Centre, Open Society Foundation Africa, and Meaning of Why.

Speaking, the Executive Director of GSAI, Adaora Sidney-Jack, described the platform as a proactive step in the fight against gender-based violence and the integration of Persons With Disabilities (PWD).

She highlighted the initiative as part of the organization’s commitment to the 16 days of activism against violence towards women.

She stressed the collaborative nature of the project, designed to provide inclusive spaces for creatives, particularly those with disabilities and internally displaced women.

“The initiative aims to bridge gaps and create opportunities for performers with disabilities, collaborating with bodies like the Performance Music Association Nigeria FCT.

“The launch event showcased diverse talents, including women with disabilities and those from internally displaced camps,” she said.

Sidney-Jack expressed optimism that these creative efforts would not only offer viable platforms for artists but also facilitate their integration into broader community engagement.
