Hundreds of Nigerian students stand the chance of acquiring quality education from 16 universities in the United Kingdom.

At an event in Abuja, the 16 universities under the aegis of Northern Consortium of United Kingdom Universities (NCUK), in partnership with Brookstone Schools of the Brookstone International Foundation, said they would provide scholarships by ensuring that beneficiary students paid only about half of the school fees.

NCUK said there were over 4,000 degrees available for interested students, and that the number of beneficiary students would be ascertained later this year when the admission processes would have been concluded.

Already, the consortium has helped 9,000 Nigerian students gain admission into various institutions in the UK.

The Market Development Manager of NCUK Brookstone Centre, Mr. Andrew Straughan, who spoke at the 2018 book fair, said interested Nigerian students would derive a lot of benefits from the gesture.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education, Zakari Mohammed (APC, Kwara), lauded the move, saying it would go a long way in helping Nigerian students acquire qualitative education.
