According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the case was transferred from Divisional Police Headquarters Share to the Department of Criminal Investigation Ilorin.
It said on August 20, one Hassan Hautta reported at Share police station that two of his children, Haruna Hassan and Bature Hassan, on the day of the incident took cows out for grazing.
“On their way back, the accused attacked them and used his machete on the head of the deceased. He cut off his left hand and also inflicted deep cut on his neck. After committing the crime, he left the boy in a pool of his blood and fled the scene. He was later arrested by the police,” the prosecution said.
The accused, who was arraigned over culpable homicide, was not allowed to speak after the FIR was read.
The prosecutor, Sani Abdullah, said investigation is still on and urged the court to grant him two weeks to enable them gather more information.
In her ruling, Magistrate S.B. Olanipekun ordered that the accused be remanded at Mandala Prison Yard and adjourned the case to September 15.
