At least 17 intending pilgrims were left stranded in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, as the last batch of the state’s contingent was airlifted to Saudi Arabia on Thursday. Daily Trust gathered that the would-be pilgrims, seven females and 10 males, were supposed to be part of the last batch but could not be airlifted because of some issues with their travelling documents.
Speaking to newsmen under the condition of anonymity, one of them said they were left unattended to at the hajj camp and were forced to use part of their money to feed themselves while waiting for their problem to be sorted out.
The Executive Secretary of the State Muslim Welfare Pilgrims Board, Muhammed Sani Alhassan, told newsmen while about boarding the aircraft for the last flight of the state intending pilgrims that the problem had to do with their travelling documents.
