A Senior Magistrate Court 5 sitting at Audu Bako Secretariat Kano has dismissed a case of sodomy leveled against Hassan Ibrahim Gwarzo Secondary School Kano, the Proprietor of the school, Professor Ibrahim Ayagi has said.

Speaking to Daily Trust on Monday, Professor Ayagi, explained that the case was filed before the court and trial had been on for almost 17 months before the court finally dismissed the case for non-appearance of the other party.

He said, “Three personnel of the school including principal and I were accused of concealing information regarding the allegation and we were charged to court for that. My staff were arrested and lucked up in a police cell for six days.

“We appeared before the judge twelve times, but the complainant did not appear in the court even once and as a result, the court dismissed the case.”

Professor Ayagi added that he was delighted that the 11 boys alleged to have been seduced were taken to South African’s hospital where series of medical tests were conducted on them but in the end, doctors proved that nothing of that nature happen to the boys.

“My worry now is that, the image of my school that earns a reputation for almost 30 years has been tarnished. The school was shut down for almost three months and at the end, the allegation turned to be false and unfounded.”

However, he assured that the allegation would not any way discourage the management of the school from putting in its best in promoting the standard of education in the state, saying the school was complementing public schools in impacting knowledge on the younger generation.

“My school is rendering combined services of both Qur’anic and science education. We have produced hundreds of Qur’anic memorisers some of whom were now doctors, engineers, agriculturists, scientists and technocrats, among others,” he said.

The proprietor appealed to the general public to avoid raising false alarm and always verify issues before going to press.

“Had it been the person that made the allegation verified the issue from the school management, he would not dent the image of the school.

“However, I thanked God the Almighty for vindicating us and the school as well. It is not our making, but since the allegation was false, the complainant refused to appear before the court to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt,” he said.
