At least 130 cattle were reportedly rustled, and about 18 others were shot dead in the Howl community of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, confirmed the development in Jos, saying the cattle were rustled on Wednesday, and as of now, their whereabouts remain unknown.
Babayo said, “Since Wednesday, we have been searching for the whereabouts of the cattle. The gunmen rustled 130 cattle and killed 18 others.”
The MACBAN chairman also disclosed that the incident had been reported to security agencies in the state.

Babayo accused members of the Ron ethnic group in the area of being behind the rustling and killing of the cattle.
But members of the Ron Kulere ethnic group denied the allegations, describing them as “merely an excuse to perpetrate genocide.”
Barr. John Apollos Maton, Secretary of Ron Kulere Jos and Environs and member of the Bokkos Cultural Development Association (BCDA) Vanguard, who issued the rebuttal, urged security and intelligence agencies to be vigilant and guard against potential attacks.
Spokespersons for Operation Safe Haven and the State Police Command, Major Samson Zhakom and DSP Alabo Alfred, had not responded to text messages from our correspondent at the time of filing this report.
