Eighteen of the 29 newly elected state governors have been given a 14-day ultimatum to form their cabinet or face protesters and legal action.

The Speak Out Africa Initiative (SOA) gave the warning, yesterday, in Abuja during a rally led by its convener and president, Engr. Kenneth C. Eze.

He listed the affected states as Ogun, Jigawa, Abia, Kebbi, Taraba, Zamfara, Kwara, Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Kano, Niger, Cross River, Enugu, Katsina, Plateau, Osun and Rivers.

He however commended the governors of Benue, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Kaduna, Delta, Delta, Sokoto, Oyo, Imo, Borno and Ebonyi states for complying with constitutional requirements on cabinet.

He said, “It is in the light of our mandate that we therefore issue a call-to-action to the concerned state governors with immediate effect to, within 14 days, constitute their respective cabinets, failure of which we shall take necessary legal steps.”
