The federal government has repatriated 180 stranded Nigerian migrants from Niamey, Niger Republic, as part of ongoing efforts to assist citizens facing hardship abroad.
The returnees arrived in Kano on Tuesday, at 2:45 pm aboard a chartered Ethiopian Airlines ASKY ETBAU flight.
The operation was coordinated by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) in collaboration with relevant government agencies and international partners.
NCFRMI federal commissioner Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed provided a breakdown of the returnees.
He said the group comprised 143 males-122 adult men, 18 male children, and three infant boys-while the remaining 37 were females, including 28 adult women, five female children, and four infant girls.
The latest batch brings the total number of repatriated citizens from Niger Republic and Sudan since 2024 to 1,592.
