Wogu stated this in Abuja when he inaugurated the newly constituted board of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), where he added that government has over the years consistently mapped out strategies that are successfully tackling unemployment.
The minister, who is the chairman of the NDE board, said government was giving serious attention to unemployment because the scourge has increasingly come to be identified as one of the serious socio-economic problems confronting  Nigeria.
On his part, the Director General of the NDE Malam Abubakar Mohammed said the directorate has set up four  core programmes namely ;“vocational skills development (VSD), small scale enterprises (SSE), rural employment promotion (REP) and special public works (SPW) each with various departments under them.
Mohammed said each of departments operates schemes aimed at “developing and equipping Nigerian youths (school leavers, dropouts, graduates of tertiary institutions) and women with skills that would make them not only self-employed but also employers of labour.”
