The Rector of Ikirun College of Health Technology, Mr. Salaudeen Oyewale, has reeled out an impressive list of achievements recorded by the institution since its establishment in May 2024.
He described the college as a fast-growing hub of excellence in health technology education in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.
Oyewale said the college has witnessed steady and strategic growth within less than two years of operation, delivering his address at the second matriculation ceremony, where 507 students were formally admitted.
He noted that the institution secured full approval from both the Federal and Osun State Governments, alongside accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and relevant professional regulatory bodies right from inception.
Among the key achievements listed by the Rector are staff capacity building through continuous training and development programmes to enhance teaching quality; a strategic partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to support national service integration and student development; accreditation by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria; collaboration with the Osun State Primary Health Care Board for practical exposure and alignment with state health priorities; community outreach programmes targeting schools and various communities to promote health awareness and preventive care; successful hosting of the Entrepreneurship Exhibition tagged “Trade & Enterprise Fair 2026,” aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills among students; conduct of the first supervised field exercise, providing students with real-world practical experience in health service delivery; a strategic partnership with the Federation of Ikirun Students Union (FIKSU) to enhance student welfare and engagement; disease surveillance exercises carried out across various health facilities, contributing to public health efforts in the region; recruitment of qualified administrative and academic staff to ensure high standards in teaching and operations; support for Ikirun development projects through the N.I.P.U.; significant improvement in infrastructural facilities, including upgrades to lecture halls, laboratories, and student amenities; and investment in modern teaching and learning facilities to create a conducive environment for academic excellence.
Oyewale emphasised that the college’s unwavering commitment to quality assurance, curriculum standardisation, and full regulatory compliance has positioned it as an emerging centre of excellence.
He further announced plans to expand academic offerings by introducing a new Health Education and Promotion Programme.
According to him, the NBTE has already conducted a resource inspection visit to assess the college’s readiness for the programme, with full approval expected in due course.
“This is another significant step forward,” the Rector said, adding that the proposed programme would help address current gaps in public health and preventive care.
The Rector credited the Governing Council, management team, dedicated staff, and all stakeholders for the remarkable progress recorded so far. He also commended parents and guardians for entrusting their wards to the institution.
Mr. Salaudeen Oyewale used the occasion to urge the newly matriculated students to remain disciplined and committed, reminding them that the health profession is a sacred calling that demands integrity, diligence, and excellence.
