A 19-year-old male, Samuel Olumuyiwa, was arraigned yesterday before the Ikeja magistrate court for allegedly assaulting and defiling a 12-year-old girl, Rachael Raphael.

Olumuyiwa was arraigned on a three-count charge of indecently assaulting, defiling and sexually abusing Raphael.

The prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, told the court that the accused committed the offence on October 7, 2018 at his residence on Agbonifo Street, Egbe-Ikotun, Lagos.

Olumuyiwa, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, refused him bail and adjourned the case till January 31, 2019, pending advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution.
