Two villagers from Bamburu community in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT were on Friday killed by bandits in a forest near Suleja LGA of Niger State.
The victims, simply identified as Isiaku and Ibrahim, were among five people that ventured into Iku Forest in the neighbouring Suleja where their rustled cows were suspected to have been taken to.

The forest, said to be notorious for harbouring rustled cows, is not far from the Suleja abattoir.
A vigilante Commander in Suleja, Dantani Jarumai, told City & Crime yesterday that the villagers met the bandits inside the forest around 8am on Friday.
Jarumai said, “The bandits inquired what their mission was and they informed them that they were looking for their cows.
“The bandits ordered them not to move further. The villagers withdrew and took a position nearby to inform their community about the development on the phone.
“Unknown to them, there were other members of the gang hiding, and they immediately opened fire on the one who was making the phone call and later the second one.”
He further said that the remaining three were able to escape unhurt and informed the Suleja vigilante unit about the development.
He added that, “We relayed the information to the police, and after Friday’s prayers, we moved into the bush in the company of police and soldiers, but they had already left the area with their footprints headed towards Izom Forest along the Suleja-Minna road.
“So we evacuated the two corpses to conduct janazah prayer on them.’’
There was no response from the police on the incident.
