Two men, Boluwatife Kareem (23) and Adetoyese Kabiru (22), both residents of Kilanko area in Ilọrin, Kwara State, have been arraigned for allegedly stealing fish, yam, garri and other food items from a house in Olorunda Phase 2, Alagbede area of Ilọrin, when its occupants were attending a church service.

The prosecutor, Prosecutor, Oderinde Abideen, told the court that, “During the church service, the complainant, Samuel Oluwafemi, sent one of his children home on an errand who met the house gate open and ran back and reported to his father.

“When the complainant rushed back to the house, he discovered it had been burgled and the following items stolen: 26 pieces of smoked catfish, 12 pails of garri, one palm sandals valued at N10,000, 10 tins of peak milk, four Maltina drinks, five bottles of Five Alive, two tubers of yarn and N50,000 cash.”

Abideen said some of the commodities and items stolen were recovered after investigation following the confessions of the suspects.

The Magistrate, A. Y. Ameenulahi, granted the defendants bail and adjourned the case to June 7.
