A gang of armed robbers on Monday attacked spare parts dealers at Fashola Estate, Sango Ota, with an attempt to rob them of vehicle batteries, tyres and head lamps.
Policemen from the Lagos Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), however, thwarted the attack.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, told journalists that following a piece of information the Lagos police command received on the ongoing robbery, the combined team of policemen swung into action immediately to confront the hoodlums.
It was learnt that while some of the bandits fled on sighting the police team, others held the detectives in a gun battle, during which two members of the gang were arrested.
Edgal gave the names of those arrested as Suleiman Seun, 31, and Olamilekan Olaoluwa, 24.
Items listed as recovered from the gang included one locally made pistol, a cut-to-size barrel gun, four wheels of a Land Rover SUV, two tyres and two vehicle batteries.
