Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested 27-year-old Albert Koko-ete Hanson and 18-year-old Wisdom Okon, both from the Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. 

The duo was apprehended for allegedly running an armed robbery syndicate that targets and lures women from “hook-up” sites to hotel rooms in Port Harcourt to dispossess them of their valuables.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Rivers State Command, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrests on Thursday.

 She urged young women to shun prostitution due to the risks involved, and further advised them to acquire skills to better their lives.

CSP Iringe-Koko revealed that the suspects targeted “classic girls” using high-end devices like the iPhone 15. 

She said the suspects would allegedly abduct the victims and extract large sums of money from them or their relatives. 

Upon interrogation, the prime suspect confessed to making over N18 million during his six years in the illicit business, the PPRO added.
