 The police in Niger State have arrested two suspected bandits and rescued seven kidnap victims from captivity at the Lambata-Bonu axis in Gurara LGA.

Spokesman of the command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, on telephone, told our reporter on Monday that N2.1m ransom money was recovered from the suspects.

He said the arrest was based on intelligence information received that two male adults were sighted lurking around Lambata-Bonu road.

He gave the names of the suspects as Isyaku Anaruwa Abdullahi, who is a native of Kwakuti village in Paikoro LGA of the state; and Muhammadu Sani Yakubu of Paikon-Kore village in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

He said the suspects had during interrogation confessed to be members of the kidnapping syndicate terrorising Gwagwalada, Lambata and Kafin-Koro areas.

While disclosing that three phones were also recovered from the suspects, he said, “The tactical team had a gun battle with the abductors in the forest and the hoodlums escaped from the hideout and abandoned seven victims, six males and one female.”
