2 boys charged with assault, obstructing police

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned two boys, Ayobami Adorin (16), and Lamidi Baliu (17), in magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged assault and obstructing a public officer.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that on May 28, at about 9pm in Ado-Ekiti, the suspects conspired to commit felony to wit serious assault and obstruct public officers, Sgt Owolabi Michael and Sgt Abdukadiri Yakubu, in the discharge of their lawful duties.

Inspector Oriyomi said that on the same date, time and place, the defendants did conduct themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by constituting nuisance in a public place contrary to Sections 421, 187(b) and 181(1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

Counsels to the defendants, Busuyi Ayorinde and C. O. Omokafe, urged the court to grant bail to their clients.

The Magistrate, A. O. Owoleso, granted bail of N300,000 with one surety in like sum each and adjourned the case to July 25.
