2 brothers remanded for slaughtering cousin over bike

Two brothers, Aliyu Halidu and Farouq Halidu, have been arraigned before a magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, for allegedly killing their cousin, Idris Hamah, to steal his motorcycle.

The suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and armed robbery contrary to Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code and 6(B) 1(2) of the Firearms Special Provisions Act.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects, “Ambushed Hamah, their cousin, while coming from Gwasera market in Baruten local government and beat him with a stick till he died before they slaughtered him and went away with his new Bajaj motorcycle.”

They were arrested by troops of the Nigerian Army deployed to Forward Operation Base, Karunji, in the LGA.

The prosecutor, Innocent Owoola, urged the court to remand them pending the outcome of investigation.

The Magistrate, Omotayo Adebosin, ordered their remand and adjourned to April 18, 2023.
