The State Secretary and one other person who are members of the women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWI CAN) Gombe chapter, Tuesday died in an auto crash.
The accident happened at Ubakala Umuahia junction, along Eungu-port Harcourt express road on their way back from 2017 annual national conference held at Port Harcourt.
The incident was confirmed by the Abia State Chairman of CAN, Senior Apostle Emmanuel Agomoh.
Twenty four contingent of WOWI CAN Gombe state chapter attended the Annual National Conference held in Port Harcourt.
The accident which involved one of the two buses with 12 passengers occurred while returning back after the conference Tuesday at about 5.30am at Umuahia axis of the Journey.
Mrs Ladi Lawal died on the spot and Mrs Abigail Samari died while receiving treatment at FMC hospital, Umuahia.
Senior Apostle Emmanuel Agomoh expressed deep shock over the accident and death of the secretary, Mrs Ladi Lawal and Mrs Abigail Samari.
He said that Mrs Abigail Samari died this morning while receiving treatment at FMC and that Abia CAN is in touched with the deputy governor of Gombe state and member of CAN, Gombe.
The Abia State Chairperson of WOWI CAN, Mrs Chimemnma Okwara said they are yet to come out of the shock, and called on the contractors handling the Enugu/Port Harcourt express road to expedite action and remove the tippers and also clear the heap of chippings deposited at Ubakala junction Umuahia axis along Enugu/Port Harcourt express road the scene of the accident.
