2 charged with alleged N13.7m fraud in Ekiti

Police in Ekiti have arraigned two individuals, Foloye Akinboboye (36) and Sunday Adewusi (60), at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti over an alleged intent to defraud.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that between June 1 and July 31, 2025, in Ado-Ekiti, the defendants intended to and allegedly defrauded Sunday Richard of N13,700,000.

Inspector Oriyomi added that the defendant, Sunday Adewusi, allegedly defrauded Richard of N746,000 for his personal use, while Faloye Akinboboye allegedly defrauded him of the total sum of N13,700,000.

The prosecutor stated that the offence is punishable under Sections 329(3) and 302(6) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant his clients bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the second defendant bail of N250,000 with two sureties. The first defendant was granted bail of N50,000 with one surety in the same sum.

The case was adjourned until October 23, for hearing.
