2 charged with malicious damage, theft, sexual assault

The Police in Ekiti State have arraigned two suspects, Ebenezer Olarinmoye (28) and Akin Odunayo (24), before a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over allegations of malicious damage, theft, and sexual touch without consent.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that on February 3, 2026, at about 6am in Ado-Ekiti, the defendants conspired to damage an iPhone 11 handset valued at N350,000, belonging to one Adedeji Abike, and sexually touched her without her consent.

Furthermore, Inspector Oriyomi alleged that the defendants stole a Sekonda wristwatch valued at N400,000, three bundles of N200 cash notes belonging to Lawrence Faith, and also sexually touched her without her consent. Other items allegedly stolen include a gold earring, a N35,000 bracelet, a N10,000 hairpiece, and sunglasses valued at N31,000.

The prosecutor stated that the offences are punishable under Sections 421, 363, 269(1), 302, and 185 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State (2021).

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to admit his clients to bail, assuring the court that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until February 23 for hearing.
