2 charged with theft of N2.6m foodstuff

The police in Ekiti State have arraigned two men, Adelabu Emmanuel (22) and Ayomide Adeyanju (23), at a magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over theft of foodstuff worth N2.6 million.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants on December 6, 2025, at about 0730 hours at Kay Jay Zenith at Ajilosun area in Ado-Ekiti, did steal foodstuff and beverages worth N2,664,500:00, property of Kay Jay Zenith contrary to Sections 421 and 302 of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021 Criminal Law.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Salary Hassan, urged the court to grant his clients bail in liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail of N250,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to January 23, 2026.
