Two persons have died while three others sustained injuries in a car accident on Sunday afternoon at Gada Biyu village, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

Our reporter learnt that one passenger died on the spot while another died at the general hospital in Abaji, after they were conveyed by the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for medical attention.

A witness said the accident happened at about 2:30pm when a Volkswagen Golf with registration number LKJ 449 BJ lost control and crashed into a ditch.

He said the driver was conveying passengers from Lokoja to Zuba, when he ran into a heap of sand by the roadside, saying the vehicle somersaulted thrice and crashed by the roadside.

He said one among seven passengers died on the spot, another died at the hospital, while three others sustained injuries.

When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, ACC Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the accident, which he attributed to speed limit violation and loss of control.

He said the three injured passengers were at Abaji General Hospital for treatment and that the two corpses were handed over to their relatives for burial.
