Two yet-to-be-identified persons yesterday lost their lives in a ghastly auto crash that occurred on the Atan-Idiroko expressway, Ogun State.
The deceased were simply identified as a vulcanizer and his friend.
An eye-witness said that the truck, heading towards Sango, lost control and veered off the road and ran into a workshop, ramming, in the process, into the victims and killing them on the spot.
Officials of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident. Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TRACE, said that the accident happened around 9:30a.m.
Akinbiyi said that the truck, with an unknown registration number and coming from Oke-Odan, Idiroko, lost control due to over-speeding and rammed into a vulcaniser and his friend working in front of their workshop.
“The corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue at Kayode Hospital, Atan, Ogun State, while the truck driver is in the custody of the police,” he said.
Akinbiyi advised motorists and road users to exercise caution on the highways as they approach the end of the year.
