Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two men who disguised as beggars to rob passersby in the Lekki area of the state.

The suspects were also accused of robbing people in traffic along the Lekki – Ajah expressway.

The suspects, Olumide Oladeji and Lekan Ibrahim were arrested by detectives from Ilasan Police Station on Friday after a victim raised an alarm about their presence.

Lagos State Police Public Relations, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect attacked a passenger while in traffic in the Agungi area of Lekki.

Hundeyin said the two men who disguised as beggars had allegedly approached a victim during which they forcefully collected his phone and his gold necklace.

“The victim quickly alerted the patrol men of Ilasan division stationed at Jakande roundabout. They quickly swung into action and arrested the suspects.

“All items stolen from the victim were recovered from the suspects,” he added.
