Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) have arrested two brothers, Nosa Felix and Osaeromwan Felix, over the alleged theft of a vehicle and other valuables.

The ESSC said the brothers, who specialised in car snatching and burglary, were ex-convicts, as they were previously arrested for car theft and served two years each in prison.

According to security reports, following their release, the suspects burgled a house in Ogheghe community, where they stole a Toyota  Corolla and several other items and sold the Corolla for N2.2 million.

The corps said its operatives arrested the brothers at the King’s Square while attempting to sell other stolen goods.

In an interview, one of the suspects, Nosa, admitted that they entered the house by scaling the fence while the occupants were at church on a Sunday.

He explained that they had been monitoring the movements of the residents, noting that the family had driven two vehicles to church, leaving one behind.

He said, “We gained access to the room by breaking the window’s burglary proofing and stole a laptop, iPad, phones and the vehicle.”

He added that they could not find the car keys, so they bypassed the ignition to drive the vehicle out of the compound.

The corps’ Deputy Commander, Richard Balogun, assured the public that the ESSC would continue to collaborate with the police and other security agencies to checkmate crime in the state, adding that the suspects had been handed over to the police.
