The Edo State Security Network has arrested an ex-convict and another individual for allegedly impersonating revenue collectors.
The main suspect, identified as Justine Yusuf, and his accomplice, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, were caught wearing reflective jackets with “revenue collector” inscriptions.
A patrol team from the Edo State Security Corps apprehended them.
The suspects allegedly used the jackets to illegally collect money from unsuspecting members of the public for personal use.
Yusuf is an ex-convict who recently completed a two-year prison sentence at the Oko Correctional Centre for attempted murder after he injured a neighbour with a broken bottle.
He allegedly stole two of the jackets and gave one to his friend.
The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation. Efforts to get a statement from the police were unsuccessful.
