Two men are being detained at the Human Rights Unit of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling their daughters.
Olawale Ibitoye, 45, was arrested at Ketu area of Epe for having canal knowledge of his 14-year-old daughter; while Ashiru Amusat, 65, was nabbed at Shasha for allegedly sleeping with his 12-year-old daughter at Shasha area of Egbeda.
It was gathered that Ibitoye, who had been defiling his daughter since she was 8 years old, had subsequently married her off to one Moses Okurukpe.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who paraded Ibitoye and Okurukpe at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, disclosed that the incident was reported when the victim became pregnant.
Edgal said the young girl was taken to a traditional medicine house where she laboured for days before she was delivered but that the baby died.
Ibitoye however denied having any incestuous act with his daughter.
On the case of Amusat, police investigation into the matter revealed that the mother of the victim had separated from her father just after her birth.
“She was brought up by her grandmother but in April 2018, Amusat had gone to take her back from her grandmother,” the CP said.
The CP said the suspects would be charged to appropriate courts as soon as investigations were concluded.
Reacting, Amusat attributed his act to the devil, adding that the daughter had also consented to the act.
