Tragedy struck on Boxing Day as two fun seekers were confirmed dead while attending a party at the Barracuda Beach, Abraham Adesanya, in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
Although the identities of the deceased were not known at press time yesterday, sources said the two persons drowned while trying to rescue their friend who got swept away by the wave of the sea.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said two adult males were trying to rescue another adult male from drowning before the high tide of the ocean.
The agency, however, said the two adult males drowned in the lagoon.

The Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement said: “The life guard stationed at the beach reported that the victims had ventured beyond the red line. Solo rescue is prohibited beyond these limits; which is why he was unable to attempt it.
“However, the agency’s LRT and Paramedics are on ground.
“Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the scene,” he added.
