Two men, Olanrewaju Hakeem (37) and Amoo Olufemi (48), have been arraigned before a magistrates’ court at Owode-Egba in Ogun State for conspiracy, willful damage to property and breach of public peace.

The prosecutor, Morufu Animashaun, told the magistrate that the defendants and others at large on June 24, 2021, at about 9pm conspired among themselves and invaded Masters Golden City Estate on Papalanto Road, Ofada, Owode Egba, and damaged buildings.

The prosecutor also told the court that the defendants destroyed a banner placed at the estate’s entrance gate by one Mrs Ahonsi Rebecca which indicated that estate was not to be accessed by commercial motorcycles and tricycles.

He also told the court that the defendants caused breach of public peace by preventing the residents of the estate access to their homes.

Following a not guilty plea by the defendants, the prosecutor asked the court for a trial date and their remand.

But counsels to the defendants, Oluwole Kehinde and Folarin Oloyede, pleaded with the court to admit their clients to bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Idowu Esther, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N5m each with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to November 15.
