The victim while recounting her experience revealed that the duo lured her into their one-room apartment by snatching her handset and bolting into their room. “The two of them snatched my handset, promising to help me to charge it. So when I later went to collect my handset; they both cornered me and forcibly dragged me into their room from the corridor where I stood. I earnestly pleaded with them that I was a virgin that they should let me go but all my pleadings fell on deaf ears. Before I know what was happening they tore my underwear, gagged me with their bedspread and raped me.  When they finished they gave me N500 to buy drugs and promised to give me more later. I started bleeding heavily and relayed my experience to my elder sister who took me to Revelation hospital at Ayobo for First Aid and I was later admitted in the hospital.

Reacting to the barrage of accusations levelled against them by the victim and the Ayobo police station, the young men refuted the allegations. They claimed that they never had carnal knowledge of the girl but only use their fingers   to know if she was truly a virgin because we are shocked to see a girl of her age that could still be a virgin.

“We did not force her into our room as claimed but only offered to help her charge her phone because it was down. She walked into our room to check whether her set was charging and as we were talking we got playful.”

Speaking on the development, the Lagos State police spokesman, Frank Mba maintained that the two young men would  still be charged to court for indecent assault. “Assuming that their stories are true, that is they did not have carnal knowledge of the girl. Even if they only use their fingers, they would still be charged for indecent assault. Even if they had obtained consent and it is later established that the girl is under aged, that consent is of no meaning under the law. The case becomes even more complicated if consent was obtained falsely, by fraud or by threat of bodily harm or by intimidation.”
