A J5 Peugeot bus rammed into a broken down tanker on middle of the road in Gada-Biyu village, along Abuja-Lokoja road yesterday.
Two people sustained injuries after they were trapped in a bus that rammed into a petrol tanker in Gada-Biyu Village along the Abuja-Lokoja Road.
A witness said the accident happened around 5am yesterday when a Peugeot J5 bus without registration number loaded with plantain from Lokoja rammed into the stationary unmarked tanker with the two passengers beside the driver sustaining injuries.
Some residents of Gada-Biyu who spoke with our reporter at the scene blamed the tanker driver for not putting warning signs despite that the tanker broke down in the middle of the road.
The Yangoji Unit head of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Jimoh Momoh, said the unit was not informed about the accident, but assured that he would mobilise his men to the scene immediately.
In a related development, seven people were injured in another accident on Sunday near Yaba Junction the Abuja-Lokoja Road.
The Abaji Unit Commander of FRSC, Abubakar Shehu Dogondaji, who confirmed the accident, said it happened around 5pm and involved a Golf car with registration number LKJ 199 HS and an Iveco truck with registration number BGD 483 XQ.
Dogondaji attributed the accident to dangerous driving and loss of control, saying the victims were taken to the Abaji General Hospital.
