A Fulani woman identified as Hadiza Ibrahim and a man, Sani Muhammad, have sustained machete cut after hoodlums inflicted injuries on them in Dobi community in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja.

Daily Trust gathered that the attack was a reprisal by the suspected hoodlums followed the death of a farmer, Sule Mutunye Dabena, who was killed on his farm by yet to be identified persons last Monday, at the community.

It was learnt that following the killing of the farmer, some suspected hoodlums mobilized on Wednesday, to attack a Fulani woman and a man at the community.

City News had reported that the council chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, had drafted security operatives to the community following the killing of the farmer to curtail any breakdown of law and order.

The Gwagwalada branch secretary of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Muhammad Usman, confirmed the attack on two of their kinsmen by some people in the community.

Usman, who confirmed the incident through telephone, said MACBAN condemned in totality the attack on the two Fulani, saying they have been residing with other tribes in Dobi community for decades peacefully.

“In fact, if not for the quick intervention of soldiers stationed at Dobi community, who quickly rescued them, they would have been macheted to death,” he said.

He said though the Fulani were not the ones behind the killing of the farmer, some hoodlums still went ahead to attack and inflicted injuries on their kinsmen in a so-called reprisal attack.

He recalled that when “three of our kinsmen were killed some few weeks ago, we never retaliated but reported the incident to the council chairman.”

The MACBAN scribe said the council chairman later came along with security agents to see the two injured victims at the hospital, and appealed to him to take action over incessant attacks on their kinsmen.

The spokesperson of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to reply to a text message sent to her on the incident at the time of filing this report.
