A truck driver and his conductor who were conveying sachet water were injured in a crash on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, on Monday.

The mini truck, with registration number: SMK 796 YE, was descending the bridge at Sura Market when it rammed into two Mazda vehicles with registration numbers: AGL 576 TG and AKD 531 YC.

It was learnt that the incident happened barely 24 hours after a similar incident occurred at the Oworonshoki end of the bridge that claimed the life of one person.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon Sola Giwa, who confirmed the accident, said preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the truck lost control due to brake failure.

He said despite the government’s ongoing campaign against excess speeding, some road users had paid the supreme price after daring the state government’s warning.

He noted that some drivers had continued to flout the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

He, therefore, urged all drivers, including truck operators and private car owners, to avoid speeding and to check their vehicles before driving within and outside the state.
