Two men, Denis Salam, 35, and Idris Musa, 30, have been sentenced to two months imprisonment with an option of N10, 000 fine for stealing 58 mobile phones worth N10m.
The convicts were arraigned before a Senior Magistrate Court 25 sitting in Gyadi-Gyadi for two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft contrary to sections 97 and 286 of the Penal Code.
Salam and Musa conspired and stole the 58 mobile phones from one Sharu Husain at Sani Mainagge. However, the phones were recovered from the convicts, the charge sheet, revealed.
When the charge sheet was read to them, they all pleaded guilty of the charges, but appealed to the court to temper justice with mercy.
The convicts, who showed remorse in the court, said their actions were devil’s work and that they regretted committing the offences.
Denis told the court that he was the only child to his aged mother and had a wife, child and siblings who defend on him.
A Senior Magistrate Abdu Maiwada Abubakar, who presided over the court, sentenced the culprits to two months imprisonment with an option of N10, 000 fine.
