The vehicles that were badly damaged include a fully loaded truck with registration number XZ 437 MUS, an 18-seater inter-state commuter bus with plate number XN 547 LSR, one Honda Accord (FKJ 645 AG), one Volkswagen Golf (DN 504 EKY) and a Toyota Sienna (GR 304 LND) branded by Joint Juice. Though police in Lagos put the number of death at two while those who were injured at three, but those who formed the rescue team at the time of the incident says that over ten persons who were critically injured were rushed nearby hospital while four dead bodies were also evacuated to a morgue.

 

The witnesses say that the trailer carrying pipes fell and emptied its contents on occupants of some vehicles. The petrol tanker was said to be carrying diesel.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba told Weekly Trust on phone that those who sustained injuries were treated in a nearby clinic, but were also discharged immediately.
