Two young men have been shot dead along the Ukpiam-Umenger Road in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Locals described the killings, which occurred on Sunday evening, as another senseless act by the armed invaders who lately lie in wait for passersby to unleash terror.
The locals told our correspondent on telephone that the victims were returning from the Daudu market when they were ambushed and gunned down along the way.
“One of them hailed from Tse Anhar while the other was from Torkula Ugondu, both in Mbadwem Council Ward of Guma LGA,” Jonah, a local resident, said.

Jonah recalled a similar incident involving a farmer who was beheaded in the area only a few days ago as he worried that the armed invaders have now resorted to attacking commuters and villagers around Ukpiam, the headquarters of Mbabai district.
In a related incident, vigilante members in Udei, Nyiev Council Ward of the same Guma LGA, were attacked, on Sunday afternoon, however, no lives were lost in that attack.
Meanwhile, some residents said they have been advised by community leaders to limit movement and walk in groups, particularly in and out of affected areas.
Police spokesperson for Benue command, DSP Udeme Edet, did not respond to calls or several messages put through to her telephone for comment on the incident.
