Two men, Rilwan Garba and Michael Genesis, were arraigned on Tuesday at a Life Camp Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly receiving stolen money.

The police charged Garba, 20, and Genesis, 26, both residents of Efab Queens Estate, Galadima, with joint act and receiving stolen property.

According to the prosecutor, Mrs. Charity Nwachukwu, the complainant, Mrs. Loveth Ayoade of Efab Estate, Galadima, Abuja, reported the matter to the Gwarinpa police station on August 30.

Nwachukwu said Ayoade alleged that her domestic staff, Christabel Isaac, dishonestly entered her husband’s room and stole $1,200.  (NAN)

She said the house help  then gave Garba and Genesis $800 to convert into naira.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendants accepted the money despite knowing Isaac was a domestic staff in the complainant’s house but they allegedly concealed this information from her employer. 

She also stated that after changing the $800, the defendants refused to give Isaac the naira equivalent and converted the money for their personal use.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Ramilatu Halilu, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned to October 2 for a hearing. (NAN)
