Two suspects, Shuaibu Idris and Aliyu Danjuma, have been arrested after jumping into their neighbour’s compound to steal a car battery in Tukpechi village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

A vigilante, Moses Ishaya, said the incident occurred on Tuesday around 11pm when vigilantes were on patrol in the area.

He explained that one of the suspects had already scaled the fence while the second suspect stood watching.

He said, “When we arrived the scene, we flashed a torchlight on the suspect sitting atop the fence and apprehended him immediately

“Upon sighting the vigilantes, the second suspect took to his heels. However, the one caught on the fence led the team to the house where they reside, which happened to be next door to the victim’s house.

“The man whose fence they tried to scale told the vigilantes that another car battery he bought just months ago was also stolen from inside his compound recently.

“The suspects confessed to being responsible for a series of car battery thefts within the community.”

A police source at the Kuje Division confirmed the arrest of the two suspects.
