2 men docked for allegedly assaulting neighbour

The police on Monday arraigned two men in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly assaulting their neighbour.

The defendants, Collins Chibuzor, 30, and Daniel Ugochukwu, 29, were docked on charges bordering on joint act, criminal force and assault, offences they denied committing.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, had told the court that one Okolochukwu Chika of Navy Quarters, Kubwa, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on March 29.

He alleged that the defendants assaulted the complainant as he tried to stop them from disconnecting electricity in his residence.

Olanipekun told the court that the complainant sustained injuries as a result of the physical assault.

He said the offences contravened sections 79 and 265 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the matter until July 13 for hearing. (NAN).
