2 men docked in Kano over sale of fake drugs

The National Foods and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) yesterday docked two persons before the Federal High Court in Kano for allegedly possessing and selling fake drugs in the state.

The first accused, Bala Adamu of Sabon Gari market, Kano, was arraigned over possession, display for sale and selling of fake Viagra and olive oil.

The second accused, Kelechi Fabian, also of Sabon Gari market, was arraigned over possession, display for the purpose of sale and selling the fake versions of Mixagrip, Procold and other pharmaceutical products.

When the three count charges were separately read to the accused, they both pleaded not guilty.

Justice A. Lewis-Alagoa granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N3million each with a surety who must be a civil servant of not lower than grade level 14 or an owner of a landed property in Kano which must be verified by the court.

He then adjourned the matter to March 19 for commencement of trial.
