Two men suspected to be hoodlums have reportedly snatched a motorcycle from a man identified as Habila Joseph using a toy gun along the Gadoro village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

A resident of neighbouring Kwaku village, identified as Samson, who confirmed the incident to our reporter on Tuesday, said the incident happened around 5 pm on Sunday.

He said it happened when the victim left Kwaku village market on his way back to his Gadoro village.

He said some hoodlums flagged him down at a stream near Kanzo village.

He said the hoodlums, who were three in number, tied his hands and legs and dragged him into a pit, while pointing a toy gun at him before they escaped with his motorcycle.

“They used a small cloth to tie his mouth after tying his legs and hands with a rope. They dragged him into a big pit and abandoned him there before they escaped with the bike,’’ he said.

He said it was some villagers who were returning from Kwaku village market that found the victim lying inside the ditch.

He said, ‘’After the victim was untied, he told his rescuers how some hoodlums attacked him and snatched his motorcycle.’

Our correspondent gathered that the victim, who is a farmer and charcoal dealer at the community, reportedly purchased the bike two weeks before the incident happened.

A member of the vigilante from Kwaku village, identified as Habaku Yohanna, confirmed the incident, saying the suspects used a toy gun to dispose the victim of his motorcycle.

“Some vigilantes who got the information immediately mobilised to the scene and met the victim, who narrated how the incident happened, saying that the hoodlums used a toy gun at him,” he said.

He said the vigilantes were trailing the hoodlums even as he said the hoodlums might have escaped through the neighbouring Gadabuke area that borders Nasarawa and FCT.

The police in the area confirmed the incident but referred our reporter to the FCT Police Command for details.
