Vigilantes have arrested two men, Ibrahim Bala and Sayadi Musa, for allegedly burgling their neighbour’s room in Unguwar Azara in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A vigilante, Abdullahi Usman, said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday around 11pm after they broke into the room of their neighbour who had travelled to the East for the Christmas.
He said the suspects were apprehended by vigilantes on patrol shortly after they forcefully destroyed the victim’s padlock and removed a plasma television.
Usman noted that upon sighting the vigilantes’ flashlights, the suspects attempted to flee but were caught on the spot.
He added that one of the suspects attempted to stab a vigilante who was holding him by his trousers in an attempt to escape, but that he was overpowered.
He added that a mob gathered upon hearing of the arrest and attempted to beat the suspects, but that they were whisked away to the police station.
A police source at the Gwagwalada Division, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the police were investigating the matter.
