Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command have arrested two suspected ‘one chance’ robbers after dispossessing a woman of her valuables along Giri/Lugbe/Airport Road in Abuja.

The FCT Police Commissioner CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, who disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, said the suspects were arrested by the operatives attached to the command Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) Sector while on routine anti-crime patrol along Giri-Lugbe road.

He said the operatives discovered a young lady crying for help, and upon inquiry, she informed the officers that she had been robbed by suspected ‘one chance’ operators who dispossessed her of her valuables before abandoning her.

 He said the operatives responded swiftly and intercepted a blue Volkswagen golf vehicle with registration number SKK 567 AG conveying two suspects identified as Muhammed Muhammed, 22 and Muhammed Saidu, 20.

According to him, it was during a search of the suspects’ vehicle that the items belonging to the victim, which included a laptop, iPhone and a charger, were recovered.

He said two knives and a pair of scissors were also found inside the suspects’ car.

“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation,” he said.

The police commissioner assured of the command’s commitment to proactive policing and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

He encouraged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police station.
