Residents of Sekona and Edunabon towns in Osun State have lamented that the newly reconstructed road between them by the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has collapsed a few months after its completion. 

A road user, Mr Waheed Saka, said the poor work done by the contractor could not give value for money, and so called on the federal government to probe the project.

He said, “This road is less than six months and it has collapsed. This kind of high-density road should not be given to an inexperienced contractor. This is the second section of the road that has collapsed within three months.”

One of the residents of the area, Mr Tunde Oluwashade, also lamented that the contractor did low quality work on the road.

Oluwashade said, “Governtmet should be using competent contractors. The one that got this contract did a poor job. It’s like posting a trader to a school to teach.”

Efforts to speak to the contractor that handled the project yielded no result up to the time of filing this report yesterday.
