A Magistrates’ Court No. 36 sitting in Bompai, Kano, has ordered the remand of two men over allegations of conspiracy and armed robbery.

Prosecution counsel, Abdullahi Sabinday, told the court that the defendants are facing eight separate charges, including criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

He, however, noted that the court lacked the jurisdiction to try the offences, which fall under the purview of the higher courts.

After listening to the submission, Presiding Judge, Rakiya Tanko, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in a correctional facility. 

She adjourned the case to December 12 for further mention pending legal advice and possible transfer of the matter to the appropriate court.

The defendants, Ibrahim Hamza and Buhari Usman, were accused of invading the Guringawa community in Kumbotso Local Government Area, where they allegedly broke into eight homes and carried out armed robbery operations.

According to the prosecution, the suspects carted away valuable items worth millions of naira before they were eventually arrested by security operatives.
